Duravent Gas Vent Pipe for Gas Fireplaces and S...

When installing a gas fireplace or stove in your home you will want to place the unit in an area where it can be properly vented. Unlike traditional wood burning fireplaces, gas fireplaces can be vented out of the side of an exterior wall and do not require a chimney to be run out through the roof. You can use an existing chimney when replacing wood burning fireplaces and stove with gas units, but should install new Duravent gas vent pipe for proper ventilation.

Flexible Gas Pipe Requires Different Types of C...

When you run flexible gas pipe from your main natural gas line you will need different types of connectors, tees and adapters. Tees are required when you are running the gas pipe to multiple appliances in the same general location. Rather than having to run two individual gas lines from the main pipe, you can use a tee to split the gas line and then run that section to each individual appliance.

Still Take Precautions When Working with Flexible Gas Pipe

Working with flexible gas pipe, like available from us, here at Copperfield Chimney Supply, you will find it is much easier to use than traditional iron gas pipe. Even though installing this type of gas line is simpler, you still need to take precautions when working with natural gas. After connecting your gas appliances, you can use a few drops of dish soap around the connector, turn the gas line on and watch for any soap bubbles. Soap bubbles indicate that there is a gas leak.

CSST Flexible Stainless Gas Line Has Many Advan...

Corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) is a promising alternative to traditional threaded black-iron gas piping for residential, commercial and industrial applications. Its light weight, flexibility, and need for fewer connections and fittings can make it easier to install than traditional threaded black-iron piping. These benefits can add up to substantial labor savings for installers and cost savings for builders.

Since 1989 over 150 million feet has been installed in residential, commercial, and industrial structures. During 2002, approximately 45 million feet of CSST was sold and installed in the U. S. - an indication of the rapid increase in use of CSST in recent years.

Corrugated stainless steel gas tubing (CSST) consists of a continuous, flexible, stainless steel pipe with an exterior PVC covering. The piping is produced in coils that are air-tested for leaks. It is most often installed in a central manifold configuration (also called parallel configuration) with "home run" lines that extend to gas appliances. Flexible gas piping is lightweight and requires fewer connections than traditional gas piping because it can be bent easily and routed around obstacles.

The multiport manifold allow for easy, future expansion of the system for room additions or additional appliances. CSST has the potential for higher levels of system safety because connections and joints behind the wall, common in black iron pipe, are essentially eliminated. In addition, builders and installers have noted a reduction in employee injuries by eliminating the heavy equipment and apparatus associated with traditional black iron pipe installations.

CSST Gas Line is a Special Type of Gas Line Piping

Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing is a special type of gas line piping that has a flexible stainless steel tube wrapped around with an exterior PVC covering. CSST gas line is tested for leaks as part of the manufacturing process. The use of both stainless steel and PVC help to make a strong flexible gas line which is more cost effective than traditional iron gas pipes.

CSST Gas Line is Easier to Install than Iron Gas Pipes

CSST gas line is easier to install than traditional iron gas pipes. Iron gas pipes are solid pieces which are ran in a straight line. Bends are accomplished using different types of elbows. There are many more pieces to connect with iron gas pipes than CSST line. CSST line has fewer connections and is flexible, making it easy to install around corners and other unusual angles.
