Flexible Gas Pipe for Installing a Gas Fireplac...

Installing a gas fireplace or gas stove will require that a natural gas line is run to the unit. While steel pipes are available which are solid and do not bend, there may be certain corners or angles which you need to go around. In these cases you can use a flexible gas pipe which can be bent around corners and through other special angles without having to use multiple pipe joints or connections and is available from Copperfield Chimney Supply .

Check Your Flexible Gas Pipe for Gas Leaks

After installing a gas fireplace or stove using flexible gas pipe or solid gas piping, you should always check for gas leaks before using the unit the first time. You can take some mild dish detergent and apply a drop or two around the pipe connections. If you notice soap bubbles forming after the gas line is turned on, then you have a gas leak. You should turn off the gas and fix all leaks and repeat this process until the line is secure.

Wall Switch Test - Resistance

Wall Switch Test - Resistance

Another quick check you can carry out is the system resistance check. This will verify whether your control circuit has too much resistance in it.

Simply disconnect the control wires from the TH and TP/TH terminals, close the switch (thermostat, remote control) and note the reading you get. It should be less than 1.7 R. If it is greater, check that all connections are tight, that the wire gauge is heavy enough for the length, and that the switch itself does not offer too much resistance.

Gas Fireplaces Operate Differently From Wood Bu...

Operating gas fireplaces is slightly different from using wood burning fireplaces. Unlike wood burning, there is normally no flue which you need to open prior to starting a fire. Gas units often use self-contained direct vents which draw air from the outside while exchanging harmful gases not burned in the fire. The direct vent is often hidden on the back side of the fireplace out of normal view.

Gas Fireplaces Can Be Installed In Any Unused Corner

There are different sizes of gas fireplaces available on our website, here at Copperfield Chimney Supply, to fit into all different living spaces of your home. Unused corners make a great location for adding a gas fireplace when you want to avoid using wall space where you already have your television or furniture. A corner fireplace unit only requires the use of a direct vent on one side of the exterior wall while the other side can be an interior wall.
